The
Water in You
Without
water, there could be no life.
Water is very necessary to human life, and that fact is reinforced by the fact
that humans take in over 16,000 gallons of water during their lifetimes, with an
average of 2.5 quarts per day. Water carries out life processes in everything,
carrying out biological reactions and aiding with digestion of other nutrients.
Up to 60 percent of the
human body is water, the brain is composed of 70 percent water, and the lungs
are nearly 90 percent water. About
83 percent of our blood is water, which helps digest our food, transport waste,
and control body temperature. The
cells in our bodies are full of water. The excellent ability of water to
dissolve so many substances allows our cells to use valuable nutrients,
minerals, and chemicals in biological processes. Water regulates the temperature
of the human body. If you have caught a fever you should drink lots of water.
To remain healthy, an adult
must drink 8ozs of pure water (we recommend H2Om), (not tap) for every two
waking hours.
Although a person can live without food for more than a month, a person can only
live without water for approximately one week.
The #1 trigger of daytime fatigue is lack of water.
A 2% drop in body water can trigger short-term memory loss.
One glass of water will stop midnight hunger pangs for 100% of all dieters.
Dehydration causes stress, and stress causes further dehydration.
Eight to 10 glasses of water a day will ease back pain for 80% of sufferers.
75% of the earth is covered with water. There are 326 million cubic miles of
water on earth.
More than 2 billion people on earth do not have a safe supply of water.
The average person in the United States uses 80 to 100 gallons of water each
day. During medieval times a person used only 5 gallons per day. It takes 2
gallons to brush your teeth, 2 to 7 gallons to flush a toilet, and 25 to 50
gallons to take a shower.
